grief yoga
A slow Yin style practice.
Grief Yoga is an intuitive, somatic approach to grief. Through slow, intentional movement, we give the body time and attention, moving gently from head to toe.
There is no talking in Grief Yoga. Instead, we focus on listening to the body, recognizing how big emotions like grief can create and hold tension. Poses are held for 1–5 minutes, allowing time to settle into the body and gently release that tension.
The practice takes place in a quiet, low-lit space with a calming, ambient atmosphere. Dress in cozy, comfortable clothing, and feel free to bring anything that helps you feel supported, such as pillows, blankets, or other props.
There is no pressure to talk, perform, or move in any particular way. Just an opportunity to slow down, pay attention, and make space for grief in the body.

ritual
Altar and ritual are optional elements of our Grief Yoga practice. We offer candles, stones, oracle cards, flowers, and writing materials to help create space for reflection, remembrance, and intention.
You are welcome to contribute to our community altar by placing an object, written intention, or offering that represents someone or something you are grieving. You may also create a personal altar beside your mat, keeping meaningful objects close to you throughout the practice.
We also offer herbal tea blends and flower essence potions, thoughtfully gifted to us by members of our community, as another way to bring comfort and care into the practice.
The altar can be a place to honor a loss, set an intention, or simply acknowledge what you are carrying. There is no right or wrong way to participate, and ritual is always an invitation, never a requirement.
DOG INCLUDED: Most days, Monty, our world-class good boy, can be found at the studio spreading joy. He’s hypoallergenic and loves greeting visitors with affection and enthusiasm. Once class begins, he typically settles in for a nap that lasts the entire practice.
Monty happily accepts pets and treats, although we try to keep the treats to a minimum so he can maintain his sleek physique.
